day 12 - 25 Days of wellness

Hi there! I’ve seen a couple of people I follow do Advent calendars for various things - 1000 Hours Outside has one for outdoor family activities, and Nutritious Movement has one for movement to create a “butt for the holidays” haha. So good.

So here we go - I’m going to drop a little post each day on a little Wellness tidbit for you to consider. Enjoy!

DAY 12 - Fresh fruits & veggies

In my Herbal Nutrition & Wellness Coaching, I teach my clients to emphasize fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grains, nuts, seeds, and legumes (preferably sprouted). This is in line with Dr. Christopher’s Mucusless Diet, which has helped many people all around the world for many decades now.

  • Fresh and raw fruits and vegetables (including greens and fresh herbs) have the highest number of bio-available vitamins and minerals, phytochemicals, antioxidants, and other beneficial compounds we both know about and don’t fully understand yet, than any other food.

  • We load up with fresh greens & chlorophyll (salads, steamed greens, green smoothies, green juices). These are very soothing to the nervous system.

  • We shoot for 50% raw food but follow our body’s seasonal needs and food seasonality as well. There are a surprising number of winter-harvest or winter-stored foods that can be eaten fresh & raw!

  • We minimize or avoid constipating foods which tend to be laced with chemicals and byproducts (dairy, meat, sugar, white flour, processed food). These also keeps parasites from being a big concern.

Don’t know where to start? These are the names of my favorite websites for recipes:

See you on Day 13!
